Hitler is a Women- Is He a She?

Don't get freaked out.

Inebriated investigative reporters have discovered that German leader and Dictator Adolph Hitler was actually a woman pretending to be a man and on occasions a human being.  Secret tests on the burned out bunker where Hitler met "her" fate have found high levels of estrogen present and indicate that Eva Braun and Adolph Hitler were both women.  Nazi historians say the new revelation “blows the lid off” of history and that now documents stating Hitler went berserk after being jilted by a Jewish tailor named Izzy begin to make more sense, a report on Inebriated Press on November 12th, 2007.

Yesterday a history changing discovery was made by American Scientists at the University of Connecticut indicating that a skull fragment thought to come from Adolf Hitler is in fact that of an unidentified woman, that has resurrected questions about the Nazi leader's death.

"The bone seemed very thin - male bone tends to be more robust. It corresponds to a woman between the ages of 20 and 40," Dr Bellantoni said.

The discovery casts doubt on the exact circumstances of Hitler’s death and could force history books to be rewritten.

Original accounts of Hitler’s death said he shot himself in the head in a bunker after taking a cyanide tablet on April 30, 1945 as the Russian army attacked Berlin.

His remains, along with those of his wife Eva Braun, were taken from the bunker, doused in petrol and set ablaze.

A year later, skull fragments were dug up by Russian forces which seemed to confirm Hitler had shot himself in the bunker.

In 1970, the KGB cremated Hitler’s remains except for the skull fragment.

Dr Bellantoni was skeptical about the theory the skull fragments belong to Eva Braun, who was with Hitler in the bunker where he supposedly died.

"There is no report of Eva Braun having shot herself or having been shot afterwards. It could be anyone. Many people were killed around the bunker area," he said.

In addition to the skull, Soviet troops said they exhumed Hitler's jawbone and that the bone's identity was confirmed through his dental assistants.

Archeologist and bone specialist Nick Bellantoni says he immediately suspected the bone belonged to a woman because of its structure.

His partner on the project, Professor Linda Strausbaugh, director of the university's applied genetics center, agreed to test for DNA if a good sample could be found.

"The skull had been stored at room temperature which had also damaged the DNA. However, the inside of the fragment was not burned and the amounts we had were well within the range that you would expect to get DNA samples from," she said.

The result was stunning.

"What the DNA told us is that it was female," Strausbaugh said.

The revelation is featured in a new documentary airing on the History Channel called "Hitler's Escape," which revisits the idea that Hitler may have escaped from Berlin.

But Strausbaugh says her testing proves nothing about Hitler's fate only that the skull purported to be his belonged to someone else.

This rises questions over, "Hitler was a women or a man?", could one of the greatest Commander in Chief and dictator like no other is a women? or USSR Forces just picked up an wrong skull from the bunker?, we might never know whats truth as the conspiracy grows over Hitler's fate.

How close were we to a third world war?

On September 6th 2007, the day started for all of us as a normal working day, but how many of us know that, that day nearly started world war 3 as a results of what happened in that day over the night skies of Syria, events so startling, so secret and dangerous in their implications they could have come straight from the pages of an international best-selling Hollywood thriller.

But this was not fiction. Indeed, what took place in the small hours of that Thursday morning - still the subject of immense speculation - was a terrifying reminder of the dangerous times we live in, and how much more volatile the Middle East could yet become.

"If people had known how close we came to world war three that day there'd have been mass panic," one senior British ministerial source was later quoted in a magazine as saying.

So just what were those shadowy, near-apocalyptic events of that faithful day, that some intelligence analysts believe could have been a "dry run" for a military strike on Iran? A strike which, if it went ahead, in itself has the potential to plunge the world into an even bigger Middle Eastern conflict, and simultaneously unleash an unprecedented wave of global terrorist attacks.

In the small hours of September 6, Israeli air force pilots of 69 Squadron locked the missile guidance systems of their F-15 and F-16 aircraft on the target beneath them in northeastern Syria. The endgame of what had been codenamed "Operation Orchard" was about to be played out.

On the ground as part of the operation a "Sayeret Shaldag" Israeli Air Force Commando unit, would been deployed to use laser beams in guiding in the pilots, who were not even told about their ultimate target until they were airborne, such was the level of security surrounding the operation.

Also flying with the Israeli bombers was an ELINT (ELectronic Signals INTelligence) aircraft used for gathering crucial data about any enemy's defence network, including radars and surface-to-air missile systems.

Indeed, one of the most significant aspects of Operation Orchard was the apparent ease with which the Israelis penetrated Syrian air defences.

The Kuwaiti newspaper Al Watan reported that the Americans provided aerial cover for the Israeli strike aircraft, and that Russian experts are studying why the two state-of-the-art Russian-built radar systems in Syria did not detect the Israeli planes.

After the attack on Syria by Israelis, the only thing which avoided another world war was the decision by Damascus not to retaliate against Israelis.

Sam Gardiner - a retired US air force colonel who has been directly involved in the past with drawing up US strategy on Iran - offered another warning as to the dangers any pre-emptive strike poses.

"The fuel for a fire is in place," he said. "All we need is a spark. The danger is that we have created conditions that could lead to a greater Middle East war."

Now almost 3 years after that incident, we are seeing a much greater military build ups in Aisa, Europe and in the middle east.

China is trying to gain strategic places in Asia, dispute over North Korea grows, a fear of war in eastern front rises high, Japan is fighting for it's right to defend it self, India and China's stand off at Indian Ocean, which one bullet could have possibly sparked another Indo-China war in February of 2009.

At Europe, America decided to swift its missile shields, into Atlantic Ocean, and their is growing tensions between Russia and its neighbors, and the war between Russia and Georgia would have spread much futher if Georgia was a member of NATO.

At Middle East, Iran's nuclear ambitions are worrying both Israelis and the western countries, with the finding of new secret nuclear Iranian Facility, fear of an imminent attack on Iran grows, and just yesterday Iran has started testing its Missiles which could reach to Israel.

This is the same kind of Military build-ups which lead to first world war and the second one as well.

As the battle for Oil and world resources grows, For years the world is divided but in the end the European Union, Australia and North-America will always support each other, while Russia and China seem to team up in another camp. The destiny of other rising countries such as India and Brazil is questionable, but China and Russia are preparing for an assault on the supremacy position of the US. Previously, they could only swallow as the US was untouchable, but with a crippling economy they don’t tolerate everything the US does anymore. Simultaneously, Russia uses its large reserves as a political tool to threaten the European Union and rising fear of attack on Iran, this all leads up to a world in crisis.

Maldives and Israel resumes Diplomatic Ties

The world's smallest Muslim country Maldives have renewed full diplomatic relations with the Jews state of Israel after 15 years.

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and a senior Maldives official signed agreements to that effect on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

"The two countries have decided to cooperate in the fields of tourism, health and education," an official at the Israeli Foreign Ministry said.

The majority of Muslim countries have no diplomatic ties with Israel.

President Nasheed expressed his willingness to resume diplomatic ties between Israel and The Maldives after 15 years during his speech at the United Nations General assembly, he was quoted as saying,

"The new Government of the Maldives is determined to pursue friendly, and mutually respectful relations with every country represented in this room.

However, any friendship must include a willingness to be frank with one another and to object to behavior not befitting of a sovereign State. We believe dialogue and constructive engagement serve the cause of peace better than ostracism and isolation.

The new government in the Maldives will look to renew relations with Israel and to use the relationship to reiterate our support for an independent and sovereign Palestinian homeland, in conformity with the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council."

However even if we establish ties with Israel, it's important that Maldives do not accept anything Israel does that violates UN Security Council resolutions and that violates international law, thus approving such acts will result in criticism from other Islamic nations.

Former Israeli Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion (1948-53, 1955-63), he is also known as the Father of the Nation of Israel and the chief architect behind the state of Israel said...

“If I were an Arab leader, I would never sign an agreement with Israel. It is normal; we have taken their country. It is true God promised it to us, but how could that interest them? Our God is not theirs. There has been Anti - Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault ? They see but one thing: we have come and we have stolen their country. Why would they accept that?"

Police launch an Investigation into human remains found in a former prison

The president’s office has request police to investigate the discovery of human remains on the premises of former Gamaadhoo Jail last week.

Speaking to Press today, Mohamed Zuhair, president’s office press secretary, said that the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party had voiced concern over the disappearances of 11 people during the reign of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.

“There were allegations that some were killed in jail and buried,” said Zuhair. “There were also allegations that some people were dropped in pits where they made lime for construction.”

Last week, inmates at the now low-risk Asseyri jail on the island uncovered a human skull and other bones including a hand while digging to plant trees.

The inmate who made the discovery told local press that the bones were found at the site where the cells of the former jail were located.

Media reports last week said the bones were re-buried in a graveyard on the island.

Police Sergeant Ahmed Shiyam said a team went to the island today. The bones were dug up and taken for investigation and a police team was combing the area for more human remains, he said.

Nazil Afeef, a lawyer in the president’s office, who accompanied the team today said the bones had been found buried beneath a building that had been constructed 10 to 15 years ago.

“What we want to know is what a man was doing buried here,” said Nazil.

He added that as there were no facilities to analyse the human remains in the Maldives, samples would be sent abroad to determine the age and as much other information as possible.

A press release on the president’s office issued today stated, “The Government views this discovery with the utmost seriousness given the allegations of custodial deaths and torture in the jail.”

Seal the Deal- Six powerful voices. Four stunning continents. One compelling message.

video
Let's make 2009 the year the world finds an answer to climate change.
The numbers don’t sound big, but their effects could be cataclysmic. A 2C rise above pre-industrial levels would see 20-40% of the Amazon die off within 100 years. A 3C rise would see 75% of the forest destroyed by drought over the following century, while a 4C rise would kill 85%. (Nature Geo-science).

However – there is good news. The worst of global warming can still be avoided if Greenhouse gases levels are cut substantially.
Look at the inspiring figures here who have joined the Seal the Deal! campaign and given us their time, talent and energy to help make the world a better place.
We look forward to seeing your name here too.

United States Forces Japan

The United States Forces in Japan (USFJ) refers to the various divisions of the United States Armed Forces that are stationed in Japan. Under the Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security between the United States and Japan, the United States is obliged to defend Japan in close cooperation with the Japan Self-Defense Forces for maritime defense, ballistic missile defense, domestic air control, communications security (COMSEC) and disaster response operations.

After the Japanese surrender in World War II, the United States Armed Forces acquired the overall administrative authority in Japan. All of the Japanese Imperial Army and Navy were decommissioned and all of their military bases were taken over by the United States Armed Forces. The allied countries planned to demilitarize Japan, and the U.S. imposed the Constitution of Japan with a no-armed-force clause in 1947.

After the Korean War began in 1950, Douglas MacArthur, the Supreme Commander of the Allied Powers in Japan, ordered the Japanese government to establish the paramilitary "Reserved Police", which was later developed into the Japan Self-Defense Forces.

In 1951, the Treaty of San Francisco was signed by the allied countries and Japan, which restored its formal sovereignty. At the same time, the US and Japan signed the Japan-America Security Alliance. By this treaty, the USFJ are legally responsible for the defense of Japan and in return for this, the Japanese government has offered military bases, funds and various interests as defined by the Status of Forces Agreement.

In 1960, at the expiration of the treaty, the new Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security between the United States and Japan was signed between the United States and Japan. The status of the United States Forces Japan was defined in the U.S.-Japan Status of Forces Agreement. The treaty is still in effect and the Japanese foreign policy is based on these reciprocal obligations.

In the Vietnam War, the USFJ military bases in Japan, especially those in Okinawa, were used as important strategic and logistic bases. The USAF strategic bombers were deployed in the bases in Okinawa, which was still administered by the US government. In the 1960s, 1,200 nuclear weapons were stored in the Kadena Air Base, Okinawa. All the missiles left Okinawa after the reversion to Japanese administration in 1972.

As of 2007[update], there are 33,453 U.S. military personnel stationed in Japan, and another 5,500 American civilians employed there by the United States Department of Defense. The United States Seventh Fleet is based in Yokosuka. The 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force (III MEF) is based in Okinawa. 130 USAF fighters are stationed in the Misawa Air Base and Kadena Air Base.

The scope and frequency of US Forces Japan participation in major exercises has been in decline since the late 1990s. This is largely attributable to the DoD combatant command reorganizations that took place in the years following the terror attacks of September 11. United States Pacific Command (US PACOM), the parent command of US Forces Japan, has taken on larger and broader roles during exercises in Japan, particularly in those exercises on mainland Japan.

Of note is the Keen X series of exercises, which includes Keen Edge, Keen Sword, and Keen Blade. Keen Blade exercises no longer exist due to funding limitations, but Keen Edge (a biannual command post exercise) and Keen Sword (a biannual field exercise) still do take place, albeit at significantly reduced levels from years past. The late 1980s and early 1990s saw the high-water marks for these exercises. According to the Federation of American Scientists, US PACOM will likely assume control of all Keen X exercises by 2009.

US Forces Japan has no control or authority over subordinate command exercises beyond manipulation of Force Protection Condition levels, which is the only area of tactical control residing with US Forces Japan. Current fiscal realities and the declining role of US Force Japan as a center of gravity for US military policy in Japan may guide future leaders to question a continued need for the organization.

Many Japanese citizens appreciate the mutual security treaty with the U.S. and the presence of the USFJ, but at the same time, a large portion of the population demand a reduction in the amount of U.S. military bases in the region. Many of the bases, such as Yokota Air Base, Naval Air Facility Atsugi and Kadena Air Base, are located in the vicinity of residential districts, and the local citizens suffer from the aircraft noise.

From 1952 to 2004, there have been 200,000 accidents and crimes committed by the U.S. soldiers, which killed 1,076 Japanese civilians. Over 90% of the incidents were vehicle or traffic related. According to the U.S.-Japan Status of Forces Agreement U.S. personnel have partial extraterritorial right, so in most cases suspects were not arrested. In 1995, the abduction and rape of a 12-year-old Okinawan schoolgirl by two U.S. Marines and one U.S. sailor led to demands for the removal of all U.S. military bases in Japan. Other controversial incidents include helicopter crashes, the Girard incident, the Michael Brown Okinawa assault incident, and the death of Yuki Uema. In February 2008, a 38-year-old U.S. Marine based on Okinawa was arrested in connection with the reported rape of a 14-year-old Japanese girl. This triggered waves of protest against American military presence in Okinawa and led to tight restrictions on off-base activities. U.S. Forces Japan designated February 22 as a Day of Reflection for all U.S. military facilities in Japan, setting up a Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Task Force in an effort to prevent similar incidents.

The United States has returned some facilities to Japanese control. Some are used as military bases of the JSDF; others have become civilian airports or government offices; many are factories, office buildings or resential developments in the private sector Due to the Special Actions Committee on Okinawa, more land in Okinawa is in the process of being returned. These areas include--Camp Kuwae [also known as Camp Lester], MCAS Futenma, areas within Camp Zukeran [also known as Camp Foster], about 9,900 acres (40 km2) of the Northern Training Area, Aha Training Area, Gimbaru Training Area (also known as Camp Gonsalves), Sobe Communications Site, Yomitan Auxiliary Airfield, Senaha Communications Station, small portion of the Makiminato Service Area (also known as Camp Kinser), and Naha Port.

Obama approves sale of defence articles to Maldives

Washington: US President Barack Obama has approved sale of defence articles and services to the tiny Island nation of Maldives.

In a presidential determination to the Secretary of State, Obama said "the furnishing of defence articles and defence services to the Maldives will strengthen the security of the United States and promote world peace."

The Presidential Determination signed on September 7, was released to the press yesterday.

"You are authorised and directed to transmit this determination to the Congress…," Obama said in his memorandum for the Secretary of State.

It was not immediately clear as to what type of defence articles and services the US wants to provide to Maldives.

The presidential determination comes within a fortnight of India and Maldives agreeing to greater level of cooperation during the visit of the Defence Minister A K Antony to Male, the Capital of the island nation.

New Delhi plans to help Maldives set up a network of ground radars in all its 26 atolls and link them with the Indian military surveillance systems.

Security experts fear that that island resorts could be taken over by terrorists. India is also providing a couple of helicopters to Maldives. The island nation is also on the radar of China, which according to some reports is keen to establish a naval base at one of its islands by 2010.

USS New York

A US Navy Ship built by using Twin Tower steels.

USS New York (LPD-21), the fifth ship in the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock, is the sixth ship of the United States Navy to be named for the state of New York. The ship was designed to deliver a fully-equipped battalion of 700 Marines.

The ship is the first to be fully designed from the CAD-screen up to support all three of the Marines' primary mobility capabilities—Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV), Landing Craft, Landing Craft Air Cushioned vehicle and the MV-22 Osprey.

Shortly after 11 September 2001, Governor of New York George E. Pataki wrote a letter to Secretary of the Navy Gordon England requesting that the Navy bestow the name USS New York on a surface warship involved in the War on Terror in honor of September 11's victims.

Seven and a half tons of the steel used in its construction came from the rubble from the World Trade Center. Steel from the World Trade Center was melted down at Amite Foundry and Machine in Amite, Louisiana to cast the ship's bow section. It was poured into the molds on 9 September 2003. With seven tons melted down and cast to form the ship's "stem bar" — part of the ship's bow. The shipyard workers reportedly treated it with "reverence usually accorded to religious relics", gently touching it as they walked by. One worker actually delayed his retirement after 40 years' work in order to be a part of the project.

On 9 September 2004, the Secretary of the Navy announced that two of her sister ships will be named Arlington and Somerset, in commemoration of the places two of the other planes used in the attack came down: Somerset County, Pennsylvania and Arlington, Virginia.

The contract to build New York was awarded to Northrop Grumman Ship Systems of New Orleans, Louisiana in 2003. New York was under construction in New Orleans at the time of Hurricane Katrina.

New York was christened on 1 March 2008, in a ceremony at Avondale Shipyards in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dotty England, the ship’s sponsor, smashed the traditional champagne bottle on the ship’s bow and christened the ship New York. Several dignitaries were in attendance, including Louisiana Congressman William J. Jefferson, Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England, members of the New York Police Department and New York Fire Department, and family members of 9/11 victims. The champagne bottle did not break the first time it was struck against the hull of the ship, but the second attempt was successful.

The ship was delivered to the US Navy on August 21, 2009 at New Orleans. The ship's delivery was accepted by its first captain, Curt Jones.

Genes blamed for early first sex

The fact that children raised in homes without a dad have sex earlier is down to their genes, say US researchers.

The study tested for genetic influences as well as factors such as poverty, educational opportunities and religion.

The more genes the children shared, the more similar their ages of first intercourse regardless of whether they had an absent father or not.

A spokesman for the charity, Brook, said children needed early education to help them make informed choices.

Competing theories

The study published in the journal, Child Development, says several theories have been advanced about the environmental factors which influence this association between absent fathers and early sex.

One suggests that because these children observe unstable or stressed parental relationships, they learn that resources are scarce, and people untrustworthy.

This leads them to mature in such a way that they are geared towards mating rather than parenting.

Another states that because adolescents reared in single-parent households may have parents engaging in sexual behaviour with partners to whom they are not married, the children may be more likely to view non-marital sex as the norm.

And a third theory states that a single-parent family structure may encourage adolescent sexuality by reduced parental control.

In other words two parents can much more closely monitor their offspring's activities and social networks, reducing the opportunities for sex.

But this study shows these factors are not as important as genes in determining early sexual behaviour.

Results

The researchers at the University of Oregon compared the average age of first intercourse among children whose fathers were always absent, partially absent or always present throughout childhood.

They looked at more than 1,000 cousins aged 14 and older from the American National Longitudinal Survey of Youth.

For the children whose fathers were always absent, 63.2% reported having had sex.

This compared to 52.5% of children whose fathers were sometimes absent.

And only 21% of children whose fathers were always present.

The average age of first intercourse for children whose fathers were always absent was 15.28, compared to partially fathered children at 15.36 and 16.11 for children whose fathers were present for all of their childhood.

It compared children who were related in different ways to each other, and who differed in whether they had lived with their fathers.

The more genes the children shared, the more similar their ages of first intercourse, regardless of whether or not the children had an absent father.

Genetic risk factor

Jane Mendle, professor of psychology at the University of Oregon, who led the study said: "The association between father's absence and children's sexuality is best explained by genetic influences, rather than by environmental theories alone.

"While there is clearly no such thing as a 'father absence gene', there are genetic contributions to traits in both mums and dads that increase the likelihood of earlier sexual behaviour in their children.

"These include impulsivity, substance use and abuse, argumentativeness and sensation seeking."

But Professor Mendle said her study did not have the power to discriminate conclusively between genetic and environmental factors and further research with a larger number of children would be necessary.

Simon Blake, from the sexual health charity, Brook Advisory Centre, took issue with the idea that genes were the overriding factor in early sex.

He said: "We know from research that factors associated with young people having first intercourse at a younger age are: lower educational achievements; friends and the media being the main source of information about sex education; socio-economic status; early sexual experience and the earlier age at which girls start their periods.

"All young people need access to confidential sexual health services as well as high quality education about sex and relationships from a young age.

"This gives them the skills and information to make informed choices, and the self-esteem and aspirations for themselves for the future.

"Targeted outreach work is also an effective way of reaching those more vulnerable groups."

Taking showers 'can make you ill'

Showering may be bad for your health, say US scientists, who have shown that dirty shower heads can deliver a face full of harmful bacteria.

Tests revealed nearly a third of devices harbour significant levels of a bug that causes lung disease.

Levels of Mycobacterium avium were 100 times higher than those found in typical household water supplies.

M. avium forms a biofilm that clings to the inside of the shower head, reports the National Academy of Science.

In the Proceedings journal, the study authors say their findings might explain why there have been more cases of these lung infections in recent years, linked with people tending to take more showers and fewer baths.

Water spurting from shower heads can distribute bacteria-filled droplets that suspend themselves in the air and can easily be inhaled into the deepest parts of the lungs, say the scientists from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Potential threat

Lead researcher Professor Norman Pace, said: "If you are getting a face full of water when you first turn your shower on, that means you are probably getting a particularly high load of Mycobacterium avium, which may not be too healthy."

While it is rarely a problem for most healthy people, those with weakened immune systems, like the elderly, pregnant women or those who are fighting off other diseases, can be susceptible to infection.

They may develop lung infection with M. avium and experience symptoms including tiredness, a persistent, dry cough, shortness of breath and weakness, and generally feel unwell.

When the researchers swabbed and tested 50 shower heads from nine cities in seven different states in the US, including New York City and Denver, they found 30% of the devices posed a potential risk.

Since plastic shower heads appear to "load up" with more bacteria-rich biofilms, metal shower heads may be a good alternative, said Professor Pace.

Showers have also been identified as a route for spreading other infectious diseases, including a type of pneumonia called Legionnaires' disease and chest infections with a bacterium called Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Hot tubs and spa pools carry a similar infection risk, according to the Health Protection Agency.

A HPA spokesperson said: "This is an interesting paper which provides further information about the occurrence of opportunist organisms - germs which do not usually cause infections in humans - in the environment.

"These bacteria, which belong to the same family as TB, can be found in the environment and occasionally in water supplies but rarely cause disease in healthy people.

"Further work will need to look at whether finding these organisms is associated with any increased risk of infection."

Facebook strips down to Lite site

The world's biggest social networking site has launched a slimmed-down version for people with slow or poor internet connections.

Facebook has said the Lite site will be faster and simpler because it offers fewer services than the main site.

Initially it is meant to support users in developing countries and where bandwidth constraints make the current version too slow to use.

At the moment it is only available in India and the US.

The company said around 70% of its more than 250 million users were from outside America. Countries in Southeast Asia and Europe are seeing a massive increase in growth where fast internet connections are more common.

News that Facebook was testing the Lite site was first leaked in August.

'Twitter-like'

The options on Facebook Lite are limited to letting users write on their wall, post photos and videos, view events and browse other people's profiles. There are no apps or special boxes.

"It appears, at a quick glance, to be a better site for Facebook newbies or for anyone who finds the current site overwhelming and noisy," said Rafe Needleman at technology website Cnet.
Facebook developers conference, BBC
More than 70% of users are outside the United States

"The new layout feels almost Twitter-like."

Terence O'Brien at Switched.com gave the slimmed-down version of what he called "ol' blue" the thumbs-up because it "strips away distractions".

"The simple site loads noticeably faster, is easier to navigate, and is much easier on the eyes thanks to the lack of people sending you 'virtual booze' or asking you to join their 'vampire fraternity'.

"The new layout seems like a direct challenge to Twitter, which can attribute much of its success to is simplicity and portability," said Mr O'Brien.

'Worldwide rollout'

Many industry watchers said they believed that even users with good internet connections might well flock to Facebook Lite because of its new look and ease of use.

"That is what some US users are planning to do," said Eric Eldon of InsideFacebook.com

"Indeed the reaction from US users has prompted Facebook to release it intentionally for US users, something it hadn't previously planned on doing."

Mr Eldon said he believed a "worldwide rollout doesn't seem too far away".

Facebook has acknowledged this is a possibility in a statement on the site which said the firm was "working on translating Lite into other languages".

So far those who have posted comments on Facebook seem to like the company's new Lite approach.

"It's good to see Facebook listening to their users," wrote one user.

Another said: "Facebook Lite should be great for college campuses like mine that are hung up on bandwidth."

Having no third-party apps on the site also garnered a fair amount of support.

"The no-apps thing is killer. There's nothing about them I'll miss," noted one user, while another said: "Whatever you do, please, PLEASE do not allow the quizzes, games, or apps to ruin this pristine version of Facebook."

Anyone who switches to Facebook Lite and does not like it can switch back to the fuller version of the site.

Mexican plane hijack

0-734Mexico_Hijacking.sff.standalone.prod_affiliate.58

A Bolivian-born man clutching a Bible and claiming a divine mission hijacked a plane in Mexico with more than 100 people aboard on Wednesday, but the incident ended quickly and without bloodshed.

Jose Flores, who told police he was a Protestant minister, seized the AeroMexico Boeing 737 after take off from the Caribbean resort of Cancun demanding to speak to Mexican President Felipe Calderon.

Flores, 44, smuggled a false bomb on board and threatened to blow up the aircraft if he could not warn the president of what he said was an impending earthquake, police said.

"He said he is a minister and that it was a divine revelation that made him carry out this action," Security Minister Genaro Garcia told reporters.

The plane landed safely in Mexico City, its original destination, and police stormed the aircraft after the passengers had been allowed off, but not the crew.

Police apparently detained Flores without a struggle and a few minutes later led him away in handcuffs, ending Mexico's first hijack drama in years,

Transport Minister Juan Molinar told reporters that all 104 passengers and crew of 8 were safely off the aircraft. "There was no bomb," he said.

Nine men were initially detained, but Security Minister Garcia said eight were ordinary passengers caught up in the drama. He said Flores, wearing a shirt and jeans, was the only hijacker.

Smiling and chewing gum, the hijacker was presented at a news conference but refused to answer journalists' questions.

Earlier, security forces raced to Mexico City airport and helicopters circled above the airport as the plane landed and taxied to a part of the airport reserved for emergencies.

CALM EXIT

Some passengers said they were not aware of the hijack during the flight, although one man noticed Flores was carrying a Bible.

"We really didn't know what was going on," passenger Adriana Romero told Mexican television. "We realized it was a hijack when we saw the police trucks."

Mexico has no major radical political groups who espouse violence, although Calderon is embroiled in a bitter war with drug cartels, whose turf wars have killed more than 13,000 people since he took power in late 2006 and set the army on them.

Direct attacks by drug gangs on the public or attempts to force talks with the government are very rare.

The last major hijack in Mexico was in 1972, when four men describing themselves as part of a group of armed communists seized an aircraft in the northern city of Monterrey and redirected it to Cuba.

In 1999, a flight leaving the capital for Monterrey returned after 40 minutes after a man threatened the pilot and said he had bombs in his belt, El Universal reported.

Cancun is Mexico's top tourist destination and attracts millions of U.S. and European sunseekers every year to its white-sand beaches and luxury hotels.

Basic Principles

Basic Principles - no woman wakes up saying "God, I hope I don't get swept off my feet today!" Now, she might say "This is a really bad time for me," or something like "I just need some space," or my personal favorite "I'm really into my career right now." You believe that? Neither does she. You know why? 'Cause she's lying to you, that's why. You understand me? Lying! It's not a bad time for her. She doesn't need any space. And she may be into her career, but what she's really saying is "Uh, get away from me now," or possibly "Try harder, stupid," but which one is it? 60% of all human communication is nonverbal, body language; 30% is your tone, so that means 90% of what you're saying ain't coming out of your mouth. Of course she's going to lie to you! She's a nice person! She doesn't want to hurt your feelings! What else she going to say? She doesn't even know you... yet. Luckily, the fact is that just like the rest of us, even a beautiful woman doesn't know what she wants until she sees it, and that's where I come in. My job is to open her eyes. Basic Principles - no matter what, no matter when, no matter who... any man has a chance to sweep any woman off her feet; he just needs the right broom.

US leads world in weapons sales

The United States snatched the lion share of the global arms sales in 2008 which amounted to more than two-thirds of all foreign armaments deals, a government report says.

According to the report, Washington inked arms deals valued at $37.8 billion in 2008, or 68.4 percent of all business in the global weapons market, up significantly from American sales of $25.4 billion last year, New York Times reported.

The surge in US arms sales last year was particularly noticeable against worldwide trends, The Times said.

The value of global arms sales in 2008 was 55.2 billion dollars, a drop of 7.6 percent from 2007 and the lowest total for international weapons agreements since 2005, according to the report.

U.S. weapons sales jumped nearly 50 percent in 2008 despite the global economic recession to $37.8 billion from $25.4 billion the year before.

Italy came in second with $3.7 billion in global weapons sales. The third place went to the Russians who managed to sell $3.5 billion in arms in 2008, down from the $10.8 billion in 2007.

The report attributed the increase in U.S. sales to "major new orders from clients in the Near East and in Asia" as well as to continued contracts for equipment and support services with globally based U.S. clients, the Times said.

The United States also led in arms sales to the developing world, signing 70.1 percent of these weapons agreements at a value of $29.6 billion in 2008, the report said.

Such deals with the developing world included a $6.5 billion air defense system for the United Arab Emirates, a $2.1 billion jet fighter for Morocco and a $2 billion attack helicopter for Taiwan.

The report revealed the United Arab Emirates was the top buyer of arms in the developing world with $9.7 billion in arms purchases in 2008.

Saudi Arabia ranked second with $8.7 billion in weapons agreements, and Morocco was third with $5.4 billion in deals.

The report on global arms sales, submitted to the US Congress on Friday, is the most comprehensive survey provided by the Congressional Research Service, a division of the Library of Congress.

Hattrick Maldives National Team Election

I will be updating about the hattrick (www.hattrick.org) Maldives National team election through out the election days.

Polls for the election will start on tomorrow Monday September 7th and the polling will close in September 14th, Monday.

Favorite to win this election is oizo_n3cro, who is an Portuguese and who had been with the Maldives National team since start of this year, however their are some new candidates this time around, it will be interesting to see who will come at the top.

Since Maldives is a new born to Hattrick (www.hattrick.org), in order to improve Maldives National team needs step by step improvements starting from U-20's, if we manage to achieve that, we will be able to build a team that other countries fear to play.

This is how the election process works, each and every Maldivian Manager who have manager licenses in Hattrick will get to vote for their favorite candidate and at the end of the polling day the results will be announced, and the winner will be the candidate who gets most of the votes.

Old friends are more expensive than gold

Old friends are more expensive than gold.
True friendship is more powerful than metal.
You can get millions of friends in a year but you can’t forget the friends in a second.
We fight we argue we get angry with each other but we are still best friends...
Little deeds of kindness,
Little words of love’
Help to make friends happy.
Sun is just sun
Sky is just sky
Sea is just sea
And you are just you.
Fiends are special caring people who know how to brighten a day with heart warming smile who always have gentle words. A HELPING HAND TO LEND.
Friendship is a glass
If it falls it will break
If it breaks it will never join
So hold it carefully
Don’t be fool
Be cool

When you are small you cry for toys
When you are a teenage you cry for boys
When you are married you cry for babies
But remember me

It is always hard to forget a friend like you because you are true friend

Let the days end
Let the months end
Let the years end
But don’t’ let our friendship end

Down by the river
Covered with rocks
Three little words
FORGET ME NOT

Any day any time
Anywhere any second
I’ll always be there for you

Remember me ever
Forget me never
This is my prayer
For you my dear

Love is not love
Till you give
Someone that love
In your heart

Heart to heart
To miles apart
Our friendship will never depart

Fall from a tree to break your head
Fall from a building to break yourself
But never fall in love to break your heart

Remember letter ‘m’
Remember letter ‘e’
Altogether remember ‘me’

They are the people that let others feel blessing to know one of the greatest blessings these can be the blessing of your friendship and the joy it bring to me
FRIENDS FOREVER...

You are strong and sweet
Never a hitch but always a dainty dish in all manners
There is no such world to describe you but to say you are one of a kind

Friends are blossoms of the gardens
Friends will never drop tears from their eyes

Friends are their to heal
To pull you off from saddened tunes

Friends are butterflies flying around the flowers.

SCRUB TYPHUS - RE-EMERGENCE IN THE MALDIVES

Background:
Scrub typhus is an acute, febrile, illness that was first described by the Chinese about 2000 years ago. This illness is caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi, an obligate intracellular gram-negative bacterium, which was first isolated in 1930. Humans are accidental hosts in this zoonotic disease.

The term scrub is used because of the type of vegetation that harbors the vector. The disease is endemic in the "tsutsugamushi triangle," which extends from northern Japan and far-eastern Russia in the north, to northern Australia in the south, and to Pakistan and Afghanistan in the west.

Maldives:
In 2002, an outbreak of febrile illness began in the Maldives. The Ministry of Health, Republic of Maldives, intensified surveillance efforts, and scrub typhus was clinically suspected by the beginning of September.

From May 28, 2002, to April 17, 2003, the Ministry of Health recorded 168 cases with 10 deaths. The disease appears to have a focus (74 cases) in the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, including 57 cases and three deaths on Gadhdhoo Island.

Scrub typhus in the Maldives were recorded by British troops during World War II. Following their arrival in October 1941 on Gan Island, Addu Atoll, the Royal Marines suffered an outbreak of 42 cases. In 1942, 582 cases, 382 in 1943, 92 in 1944, and none in 1945.
Scrub typhus was also documented by an Indian Army survey after the war. According to S.L. Kalra, General Headquarters-India, beech rain forests in the Addu Atoll possessed both the host (rodents), the vector (Chigger mites) of scrub typhus and the rickettsia.

Pathophysiology:
Humans acquire the disease when an infected chigger, the larval stage of trombiculid mites, bites them. The bacteria multiply at the site of bite with the formation of a papule that ulcerates and becomes necrotic, evolving into an eschar, with regional lymphadenopathy that progresses to generalized lymphadenopathy within a few days.

Symptoms
Scrub typhus often appears as a nonspecific fever. Typical symptoms include fever, headache, rash, and lymphadenopathy’ The presence of an eschar is pathognomonic, but it is typically overlooked or misdiagnosed. Pulmonary involvement frequently occurs in mild cases and is the principal cause of death in severe disease.

* Patients experience abrupt onset of high fever (104-105°F), severe headache, myalgia, and eschar (resembling an oval cigarette burn, see picture) with tender regional lymphadenopathy. Less frequently, eye pain, wet cough, malaise, red eye are present.
*
* Toward the end of the first week, approximately 35% of patients develop a centrifugal macular rash on the trunk, which may become raised. By this time, hepatosplenomegaly and generalized lymphadenopathy are present.

A small number of patients have nervous system involvement, with tremors, nervousness, slurred speech, neck rigidity, or deafness during, the second week of the disease.

Medical Care:

* Treatment must be initiated early in the course of the disease, based on presumptive diagnosis, to reduce morbidity and mortality. Doxycycline and chloramphenicol are both effective in the treatment of scrub typhus.
*
* Seven days of antibiotic treatment is usually effective.
*
*
* Meticulous supportive management is necessary to abort progression to disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) or circulatory collapse in severe cases.
*
* Rifampin and azithromycin have been used successfully in areas where scrub typhus is resistant to the conventional therapy.
*

* In a small Korean trial in children, roxithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic, was as effective as doxycycline and chloramphenicol in the treatment of scrub typhus.

Deterrence/Prevention:

* Preventive measures in endemic areas include protective clothing and insect repellents.

* Short-term vector reduction using environmental insecticides and vegetation control can be instituted.
*

* Chemoprophylaxis using doxycycline in high-risk groups has been successful. Doses are weekly and must be started before exposure and continued for 6 weeks after exposure.

* No vaccine for scrub typhus is available.

Prognosis:

* Prognosis is variable and depends on the severity of illness, which relates to the different strains of O tsutsugamushi.
*
* Severe disease is uncommon with antimicrobial treatment.

Unoosha

Unoosha started singing at a very young age. Her parents are music legends in Maldives. Her mom and dad used to rock the stages when music really began to evolve in the heavenly islands of Maldives.

The inter School Music competition back then was the number one show for upcoming and talented singers. It started way back and a number of great singers during this time evolved. Unoosha started off singing since she was 6 years old. She competed in every inter school competition and despite her great vocals didn’t win a place in the top 3 but mostly she made it in the top 5.

It all changed when she sang the Dhivehi version of "Careless Whispers" by George Michael on stage on her Eighth grade Inter School Music Competition. She won second place in the competition which proved to be the turning point. Next year she rocked the competition with the Maldivian version of "Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston. She won the well deserved First place and many offers started pouring in from the music producers to sing for audio albums. During the next 2 years she competed in the Inter School Music Competition She won 1st place in a row and became the first ever female vocalist to win the competition 3 times.

Her career blossomed, and she started singing for numerous albums. Her most desirable type of music is her own creations but it was restricted because she wanted to support her family.

After a year since she finished the tenth grade she took up an offer from a local Music band called "AMAZON JADE" and worked with the band for 4 years. The main focus of the band was to play resort music, so she was on the move a lot. Her farther-like figure Mr. Naseer took care of her during the four years in the band and it was like losing a father for Unoosha when Mr. Naseer passed away in 2007. It will be a day Unoosha will never forget for the rest of her life.

Her vocals and performance level boosted while she performed with the Amazon jade band. Unoosha and Amazon jade have had participated in a lot of shows held in Maldives and during the time with the band she even got a lot of offers to have an album produced for her by a number of foreign guests who were amazed with her singing. After four years with the band she joined the National Center of the Arts (NCA) in 2008. Since then she has hosted a music show for kids, performed several times on national TV and a number of high profiled music events and festivals in Maldives. The work for her long awaited solo album is on the way
